Tamara, thank you very much for your kind words. I can only hope to be wrong and can stitch sooner.
I'm very sorry to hear about your cat. It's so sad when you have to say good-bye to your beloved pet. I have three cats myself and lost a couple as well. So I know how it feels.

Aww Tamara, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. It sounds like he lived a long life with lots of love, and it's so hard to deal with when they go.

Mireille, I was hoping that you'd be able to stitch in just a month or two - six months is a long time. Hopefully your muscles will start responding sooner and your stitching can be part of your therapy.

Thank you Tamara and Mireille for your nice comments on David, and also your comments on Naproxen. The anti-inflammatory properties of the drug are great, but the side effects are not so great. My blood pressure was way too high for a few days, but after two days off the meds seems to be almost back to normal, and my dizziness and headache is gone. I'm managing with RICE - rest, ice, compression and elevation - the natural way!

Good morning! I'm a day late announcing the SAL, but here it is. I'll be continuing on with the fabric draping around David's pelvic area. I've finally found something the right height to elevate my legs while stitching, I can ice them at the same time, and it's definitely resting so I should have lots of stitching time!! Will anyone be joining in?

My condolences, Tamara. It's always hard to lose one, as they are as much family as anyone else n the household. We lost 3 in the course of about 18 months a couple of years ago and it was not fun. Hopefully, we're out of that cycle for a good long time now, as our eldest is only 7 years old (that's Mena), and Thunder and Lewis are only 2 and a little over 18 months respectively. Do you plan to get another cat? I know that we wouldn't know what to do without at least 2 cats (3 is actually our happy number) in the house.

I'm assuming we've got an SAL this weekend? If so, I'm in with Goddess of Passion. The picture below is my starting point for today. I started this last Sunday. I'm hoping to makes some good progress today. The rest of the weekend depends on the weather. We have tickets to the Indy 500 on Sunday. If the weather cooperates, and the race gets run on Sunday, then I should have Monday for some good progress, too. However, if we get over there on Sunday and it rains, it will back to the track on Monday to see if they can get it run then. So we'll have to see how it goes. At any rate, my current progress is a follows: Design - Goddess of Passion from artwork by Carol Cavalaris, charted by Heaven and Earth Designs; Design Size - 525 x 364 for a total of 191,100 stitches; Fabric - Easy Count by Zweigart in 25 count; Fibers - DMC worked 2 x 1. Current Status - 685 stitches complete (the percentage complete is still to low to even mention it) with 9 of the 88 colors in use.

Oohh, what a beauty this is going to be, Debbie! Yes there is a SAL - I was just late announcing it. Enjoy the Indy 500!

Thank you all for your kind words about Dewie. He is missed, but we are so glad he did not suffer.

A bit late, but I am in with my map. I just spent the better part of 3 days sitting in the community hall in Wells BC with a group of quilters and I was working on my cross stitch. One of my aunts put the retreat on, another aunt came up from Washington State to take part, and the second Aunt's daughter came and cross stitched with me. It was a lot of fun and those ladies were so wonderful to watch what they do. I got in at 10pm last night and took all the stuff out of my Jeep that had to come out. My stand is still in the back of the SUV and will be there until I go home from work tonight. Then I have to get it all set up again tonight if I can find my other flip frame set as my Aunt said I left the one I was using in Wells. I have a second set, but I know I put it somewhere safe and that means it is safe from me easily finding it usually.

Last weekend's progress on Goddess of Passion. I managed to get in 810 stitches over the weekend giving me 1,495 complete by Monday evening. I've also got 18 different colors in use now, all of them various shades of red. Everything from bright orange to light pink. No real pale shades in use yet. And in the next diagonal I'm going to hit an area of blocks of single colors, which should move much more quickly. Woo hoo!

Hmmm, the picture won't upload. I send the request, it appears to be communicating, and then the upload box disappears the message window becomes active again, but the picture doesn't show. Anyone else having this problem?

Tamara, that sounds like an awesome weekend! But ... how could you ever forget your flip frame?? That's like forgetting your child!! I know exactly what you mean about putting something somewhere safe so you'll always know where it is! I've done that many times.

Debbie, I'm about to try to post my photos, so we'll see what happens. I had trouble getting the website up yesterday for a time. I got the message that I had to do something to my windows first, so hopefully that wasn't some sort of virus either on my computer or the website. I did manage to get on later in the day. It doesn't look like I got too much done, but I'm working down the last column and a half for a page finish. I actually stitched quite a bit - this resting of the knees is great for stitching progress!

It actually worked, except the photos aren't in the format that they usually are. Give yours another try, Debbie!

Okay, let's try it again! Nope. Still not working. And yet, the picture uploaded to Facebook without a problem. This is weird. I took two different photos and neither one wants to upload.

Okay, I went to the advanced setting and looked at Manage Attachments and when I try to upload from there it's telling me the file is too large. And yet, it's smaller than the one I uploaded last week, and all of the more recent photos of Winter Wings Owl. Does anyone know what the size limit for pictures is supposed to be?

So, let's try this one more time. I've retaken the photo using my iPhone (still too large) and then cropped it and downsized it. Let's see if this will load. <pause> Well, that appears to have worked. Whew! This photo is a bit further along than where I stopped on Monday night since I had to retake it this morning.
