    August Friday - Monday SAL

Good morning everyone! We just finished our extended SAL and it's already time for a regular one! This week is our SAL for both GK and non-GK charts, and I'll be continuing on with Lesbia. Will anyone be joining in?

Somewhat belated, but I'm in with something new and quite a bit easier than what I've been working since I retired 18 months ago. I need to recover from the last piece! I've started an SAL piece from Carol Manning Designs called Autumn Garden Labyrinth. It's an 8 month SAL. First part (with instructions) was available August 1st. The remaining parts will be released monthly starting October 1 and ending April 1. It's a simple, straight forward design in all cross stitch and, with the exception of one skein of floss, was kitted totally out my own stash. I doubt I'll follow the SAL exclusively, but it gives me a break from the more intense designs like the Chatelaines, HAEDs and GKs. I'm working it 2 over 2 on a 28 count opalescent over-dyed fabric so it's also easier on my eyes than the 25 count 2 over one which I've used for all of my larger pieces. I had hoped to start Spooky House by X's and Oh's but Needleworker's Delight/Silkweaver's is dragging their feet on getting me the fabric. I had checked with them before I ordered it on June 29th, and they assured me that they could have it to me by mid week of the next week, in spite of needing to get it dyed. Still don't have it, and now they've gone on vacation and closed down until the 9th. I know better than to order something from these people that I want right away. The last batch of fabric I ordered from them was a special run of afghan fabric and I waited for that for nearly 9 months! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any other source for the fabric for Spooky House. I did try. Oh well. It's for my husband and he's not going to yell if it's not done by Halloween, so there's no point in worrying about it. It'll come when it comes. It's just irritating. So ignore my griping. I just wanted to vent a bit. The bottom line is, I'm in with Autumn Garden Labyrinth!

Debbie, I love your Spooky House, especially the tree/woman! What a shame that you have to wait for your fabric.

Ohh Abi, you're on the home stretch now! You've made beautiful progress this SAL. I was just noticing how the background colours go from lighter to darker from top to bottom, and loving the darker ones at the bottom.

I'll post my photos later today - on the run again!
