Bobbi, I imagine your boss really appreciates you staying on to help, and that will be very good for you if you ever need a reference. Yes, normally a person gives their notice and just leaves. It must feel good to be so needed! Do you have a job waiting for you in Idaho, or will you be joining the ranks of the retired?

Wow how quiet is this forum Everyone must be stitching and staying warm

It's sunny with a deep frost here today, a very light wind and blue skies so I'm off for a long walk down the canal with the dog. Have a nice day everyone

Abi, how was your walk? We have gone from horrendous cold to yesterday which went up to an unprecendented 48 F. This never gets that warm in January. So we were enjoying every moment. today a tad colder but tomorrow back up in the 40's F. In celcius we are up above freezing and things are melting! Going to be stitching now.I am in confetti with Oda so it is slow going.

Diane, the colors in your Jewel are exciting. Can't wait to see more.

Helene, we've got the same warm spell that you have, except it rained all day yesterday. The ground was frozen so when the rain hit it, it froze and everything was like a skating rink. I got home about 20 minutes after the rain started and couldn't get even half-way up the driveway - the car slid back down while still in gear. It's not a steep driveway, just a slight grade to it. After four tries I just parked on the side of the street and had great difficulty walking up. About four hours later, after more rain and the temperature still rising, I managed to drive into the garage, thank goodness! We're not allowed to leave cars on the street overnight during winter. They are forecasting above freezing temperatures for the next week - hooray!!

Helen I really enjoyed it After all the torrential rain we have had lately the sun and frost was lovely.Enjoy your warmer temps and good luck with the confetti

When I got back home I had a surprise visitor Mary's daughter Jane dropped in and I was really surprised as she is supposed to be working in America till Easter. Anyway things at work have changed so she is staying with her friend in Skipton which is only 30mins away by car. We had a lovely time gossiping and catching up but Jane being Jane parted clutching my Lady Godiva stitching as she is bored to death and didnt have time to pack her own stitching I'm not bothered though as her mum bought it for me and to be totally honest I only started to stitch it then I could join in the Non GK sal. Ive had a good day

Wendy you were lucky to get the car in the garage! I do hope it warms up for you, take care

Abi, I'm glad you enjoyed your walk. I'm sorry so many of you have had such terribly cold weather, but I'm glad it's starting to warm up in the Midwest of the US and Canada. We have not had the super cold temperatures, but we had rather severe winds, rain, thunder and lightning yesterday, which knocked out our power for about 6 hours. Once the power came back on, our internet service was still dead until mid-day today, so I have onlyl been able to get on the internet on my company blackberry, which isn't very useful for very much browsing. I just do the essentials, like checking email and notifying family of the outage!

I managed to finish my "recovery bookmark". I'm still having twinges of pain, so I'm still taking pain pills. I'm trying to stick to over-the-counter medicines so I can keep driving, and hopefully go back to stitching my Lighthouse soon.

I won't have any stitching time on Monday, so I'm posting my Jewels update tonight. I'm getting close to finishing page 1, and an orange-ish flower is starting to appear.

    Before After

I feel for all of you who are having bad weather, especially the ice, which is so dangerous. In California, we are having spring-like weather, with temperatures forecast to be around 70 F this week. Lovely weather to be out in, but we haven't had any rain since the beginning of December and that isn't good. The water people are talking about drought now...
